Inspired by the school’s international theme for the 2011-2012 school year each of 15 tile panels is based on a textile from a different part of the world. This project harkens back to the textile world map I made in 1991. Designed to be educational as well as decorative, each panel names the country and continent of the textile’s origin. Many of the fabrics came from the school’s families. 5th grade students enlarged drawings to scale, transferred the images onto clay, cut out the tiles, and glazed them. The panels hang in the school’s cafeteria.
